- Complement factor H is a major regulatory protein of the alternative activation pathway of the complement cascade. It regulates this pathway by targeting C3 convertase (C3bBb) for degradation and by acting as a co-factor in the cleavage and inactivation of C3b. Complement factor H is a soluble ~155kD glycoprotein present in serum at a relatively high concentration, averaging between 200-800ug/ml. It is also expressed locally by many cells types including epithelial cells and platelets (Ferreira et al. 2010, Parente et al. 2017). Due to the major regulatory functionality of complement factor H, mutations and polymorphisms of the encoding gene are associated with inappropriate recognition of “self” cell markers in patients and consequently results in complement mediated tissue damage and disease. These mutations are associated with various diseases including atypical haemolytic uremic syndrome and C3 glomerulophathy (Martinez-Barricate et al. 2008, Cserhalmi et al. 2017). Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: ELISA: 1ug/ml Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Hybridoma: SP2/0 myeloma cells with spleen cells from Balb/c mice. Matched Pair: Detection: 059351 Capture: 059352 Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
