The dyes accumulate in the low pH environment of the lysosomes, resulting in highly specific lysosomal staining without the need for a wash step. Far-red fluorescent LysoView™ 633 exhibits pH-sensitive fluorescence (Ex/Em 634/657 nm at pH ≤5), further enhancing the specificity of staining.
