- CHIR99021 is a potent and highly selective inhibitor of glycogen synthase kinase-3 (GSK-3), a serine/threonine kinase involved in numerous cellular processes. In neuroscience, GSK-3 is implicated in tau phosphorylation, synaptic plasticity, and neuroinflammation-key features of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. CHIR99021 promotes B Beta-catenin stabilization and supports neural stem cell self-renewal and differentiation. It is widely used to study Wnt signaling, neurogenesis, and the therapeutic potential of GSK-3 inhibition in brain repair and neuroprotection.
