- FCCP (carbonyl cyanide-p-trifluoromethoxyphenylhydrazone) is a mitochondrial uncoupler that disrupts oxidative phosphorylation by collapsing the proton gradient. In neuroscience, FCCP is used as a tool to study mitochondrial dysfunction, a hallmark of many neurodegenerative diseases. It has also been shown to inhibit mutant amyloid-beta production, linking it to Alzheimer's disease research.
