- SynCAM is a brain-specific, immunoglobulin domain. It functions as a homophilic cell adhesion molecule at the synapse. Full-length synCAM has been shown to induce synaptic assembly. It has also been shown that synCAM, in conjunction with glutamate receptors, can sufficiently create a functional postsynaptic response. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications have not been tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 1:1000 (ECL). Brain fractions give banding patterns of a core glycosylation population at ~50kD and a slightly higher population at ~65kD. Heterologous cell lysates give a single band around 107kD. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Positive Control: Rat brain fractions Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
