- Papain belongs to the peptidase C1 family and hydrolyses proteins with broad specificity for peptide bonds. The proteolysis preference of Papain is at amino acids bearing a large hydrophobic side chain at the P2 position and is inhibited when Val is at position P1. Papain may cause allergic reactions in humans. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot Other applications have not been tested. Recommended Dilutions: ELISA: 1:10,000-1:50,000. Western Blot: 1:1000-1:5000. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized and reconstituted products are stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
