- USP20 (Ubiquitin Specific Protease 20, VDU2) was identified by its homology to USP33 and binds competitively to the substrate recognition beta-domain of pVHL, a region commonly mutated in patients with pVHL disease. Furthermore, USP20 has been shown to be ubiquitinated by the pVHL E3 ligase complex in vitro and in cells. The enzyme acts as a regulator of G-protein coupled receptor (GPCR) signaling by mediating the deubiquitination beta-2 adrenergic receptor (ADRB2).
