- LY-294002 is a cell permeable highly selective inhibitor of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (IC50 = 0.31, 0.73, 1.06 and 6.60 uM for PI 3-KB Beta, PI 3-KA Alpha, PI 3-KD Delta and PI 3-KG Gamma respectively). It inhibits autophagy in rat hepatocytes (IC50 = 10 uM). LY-294002 is an extremely useful tool for determining the role of PI 3-K in cellular signaling. It is more stable in solution than Wortmannin, and also blocks autophagosome formation.
