- Corticosterone (CORT) administration in drinking water has been widely used by researchers. CORT is a principal GC in rodents because their adrenals do not express 17A Alpha-hydroxylase and 17, 20-lyase (CYP17A1), which are key enzymes in the synthesis of both cortisol and adrenal androgens. As CORT is hydrophobic, it must be dissolved in 100% ethanol and then diluted with water to the suitable CORT concentration with 1% ethanol content.
