- Human VEGF165 (Vascular endothelial growth factor 165) is one of the most important splicing variants in the VEGF-A family, with high biological activity and a wide range of physiological functions. Composed of 165 amino acids, VEGF165 is a dimeric glycoprotein that plays its role in promoting angiogenesis by binding to VEGFR-1 and VEGFR-2 receptors. VEGF165 is an important driver of tumor angiogenesis and is therefore a target for anti-tumor therapy. For example, Bevacizumab is a monoclonal antibody against VEGF-A that inhibits VEGf165-mediated angiogenesis
