- G-CSF (Granulocyte Colony-Stimulating Factor), a member of the colony-stimulating factor family, is a single-chain glycoprotein with a molecular weight of approximately 19–22 kDa. As a crucial hematopoietic factor in cell culture, it specifically acts on myeloid hematopoietic cells—particularly the neutrophil lineage—to regulate their proliferation, differentiation, and function. By activating the G-CSF receptor (G-CSFR/CD114), it triggers signaling pathways such as JAK-STAT3, PI3K/Akt, and MAPK, thereby promoting the proliferation and differentiation of neutrophil precursor cells. Additionally, G-CSF enhances the function of mature neutrophils, inhibits their spontaneous apoptosis, and modulates inflammatory responses.
