FPP also serves as substrate for protein farnesylation and geranylgeranylation. Catalyzes the sequential condensation of isopentenyl pyrophosphate with the allylic pyrophosphates; dimethylallyl pyrophosphate; and then with the resultant geranylpyrophosphate to the ultimate product farnesyl pyrophosphate (By similarity).
