The encoded preproprotein is proteolytically processed to generate multiple protein products; which may inhibit triglyceride metabolism. Homozygous knockout mice for this gene exhibit reduced plasma lipid concentrations; including reduced plasma triglyceride concentrations; and enhanced activity of enzymes involved in triglyceride metabolism.
