DDAH2 has therefore a role in nitric oxide generation.This gene belongs to the dimethylarginine dimethylaminohydrolase (DDAH) gene family. The encoded enzyme plays a role in nitric oxide generation by regulating cellular concentrations of methylarginines; which in turn inhibit nitric oxide synthase activity.
