Weitere Details:
Cynomolgus monkey haptoglobin is a plasma glycoprotein with a molecular weight around 86 kDa, structurally composed of A Alpha and B Beta subunits linked by disulfide bonds. Its primary function is to bind free hemoglobin released during red blood cell turnover, forming a stable Hp-Hb complex that prevents hemoglobin-induced oxidative tissue damage and facilitates safe clearance by the reticuloendothelial system. This antioxidant role is crucial in protecting tissues from oxidative stress and inflammation. Haptoglobin exhibits genetic polymorphism, resulting in different phenotypes that can influence its structural and functional properties. Altered haptoglobin function or levels are associated with diseases such as hemolytic anemia, cardiovascular disease, and inflammatory disorders, as inefficient hemoglobin clearance can exacerbate oxidative injury and inflammation. In biomedical research, cynomolgus monkey haptoglobin is used as a critical reagent in immunoassays, complement-dependent cytotoxicity assays, and as a reference protein for studying cross-species immune responses, due to its close similarity to human haptoglobin.
