- Source : E. coli;CD39 is a B lymphocyte cell surface marker that belongs to the GDA1/CD39 NTPase family. It is expressed predominately on activated lymphoid cells and can also be found in endothelial tissues. In the nervous system; CD39 hydrolyzes ATP and other nucleotides to regulate purinergic neurotransmission. It is associated with the prevention of platelet aggregation by hydrolyzing platelet-activating ADP to AMP. CD39 transgenic mice showed impaired platelet aggregation; prolonged bleeding times; and resistance to systemic thromboembolism.
