- Source : Human 293 Cells;Insulin-like Growth Factor Binding Protein 2 (IGFBP2) is a member of IGF binding protein superfamily. IGFBP2 is expressed in a number of tissues during development. The highest expression level is found in the central nervous system. In adults; high expression levels are also detected in the central nervous system as well as reproductive tissues. IGFBP2 prolongs the half-life of the IGFs and have been shown to either inhibit or stimulate the growth-promoting effects of the IGFs on cell culture. In addition; IGFBP2 is overexpressed in many malignancies and is often correlated with an increasingly malignant status of the tumor; indicating potential involvement of IGFBP2 in tumorigenesis.
