- Source : Human 293 Cells;ErbB2; also known as human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2); is a type I membrane glycoprotein that belongs to the epidermal growth factor (EGF) receptor family. ErbB2 is expressed in various tumor tissue including primary breast tumors and tumors from small bowel; esophagus; kidney and mouth. ErbB2 plays a key role in development; cell proliferation and differentiation. ErbB2 is reported to be an orphan receptor; with none of the EGF family of ligands able to activate it. Around 30% of breast cancers overexpress ErbB2; which is associated with increased disease recurrence and worse prognosis.
