- Source : E.coli. LGALSL Human Recombinant produced in E.Coli is a single; non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 195 amino acids (1-172a.a) and having a molecular mass of 21.4kDa. LGALSL is fused to a 23 amino acid His-tag at N-terminus & purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques. Galectins are a family of soluble b-galactoside-binding animal lectins that modulate cell-to-cell adhesion and cell-to-extracellular matrix interactions. Galectins also take part in tumor progression; pre-mRNA splicing and apoptosis. Galectin-related protein (LGALSL) is a 172 amino acid protein which holds one galectin domain. In spite of this; LGALSL does not appear to bind carbohydrates or lactose since the critical residues required for binding are not conserved.
