QPRT Human Recombinant produced in E.Coli is a single; non-glycosylated; polypeptide chain containing 317 amino acids (1-297 a.a.) and having a molecular mass of 32.9 kDa. The QPRT is fused to a 20 amino acid His-Tag at N-terminus and purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques. QPRT is a key enzyme in the catabolism of quinolinate. QPRT is in between the tryptophannicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) pathway; resulting in the production of nicotinic acid; carbon dioxide and pyrophosphate. Rise of QPRT levels in the brain is related to the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative disorders such as epilepsy; Alzheimer's disease; and Huntington''s disease.
