- Source : Escherichia Coli. GSTM4 Recombinant Human produced in E.Coli is a single; non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 238 amino acids (1-218 a.a.) and having a molecular mass of 27.7 kDa. The GSTM4 is fused to 20 amino acid His-Tag at N-terminus and purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques. GSTM4 is part of the glutathione s-transferase (GST) family of proteins. There are eight families of GST proteins; namely alpha; kappa; mu; omega; pi; sigma; theta and zeta; each of which is composed of proteins that have a variety of functions throughout the cell. The mu class of enzymes functions in the detoxification of electrophilic compounds; including carcinogens; therapeutic drugs; environmental toxins and products of oxidative stress; by conjugation with glutathione.
