ARSA Human Recombinant produced in E.coli is a single; non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 512 amino acids (21-509) and having a molecular mass of 54.3kDa.ARSA is fused to a 23 amino acid His-tag at N-terminus & purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques. Arylsulfatase A (ARSA) hydrolyzes cerebrosidesulfate to cerebroside and sulfate. ARSA is inhibited by phosphate. The phosphate develops a covalent bond with the active site 3-oxoalanine. ARSA gene defects cause metachromatic leucodystrophy (MLD); a progressive demyelination disease which results in various neurological symptoms and ultimately death.
