In humans it is encoded by the CD36 gene. The protein binds to ligands such as native lipoproteins; collagen; long-chain fatty acids; thrombospondin etc. CD36 plays a crucial role in transporting fatty acids into the cell. CD36 produced in Sf9 Baculovirus cells is a single; glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 652 amino acids (30-439a.a.) and having a molecular mass of 73.9kDa. (Molecular size on SDS-PAGE will appear at approximately 70-100kDa).CD36 is expressed with a 242 amino acid hIgG-His tag at C-Terminus and purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.
