It has the ability to cross blood-brain barrier and also non-toxic to in vivo though the "OPH" trap with its superior potency; proven cell permeability and minimal toxicity provides an exceptional alternative to the fluoromethyl ketone family of inhibitors. It bind to the catalytic site of caspase proteases and inhibit apoptosis.
