Since 1983, PROGEN is an established antibody manufacturer with a broad portfolio of >400 IHC antibodies used for research and diagnostics of about 40 pathologies in 25 different organs/tissues. The DIN ISO 13485 certified company provides commonly used monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies for diagnostics, prognostics and the analysis of predictive biomarkers. Some of which represent the most common antibody clones used pathology community.

Immunohistochemistry (IHC) was invented in the 1940s and has developed to be a valuable tool for the identification of abnormal cells and cancerous tissues by using specific molecular markers. Additionally, IHC represents a excellent tool to analyze the distribution and localization of biomarkers and differentially expressed proteins in context of the specific biological tissue.

prohisto IHC Staining Kits

Immunohistochemistry (IHC) is a well-established and very effective microscopy-based method that enables the visualization of cellular components (e.g. proteins or macromolecules) in cells and tissue samples. The method can detect and localize cellular components as well as provide information about their biological state. IHC is frequently used in health care and pathology as a powerful tool for clinical diagnostics and medical therapy.

In basic research, IHC plays an important role in the analysis of proteins and the elucidation of their role in health & disease. Since the invention of IHC in the 1940s, the range of applications has been steadily growing due to an increasing availability of specific antibodies against diverse targets and advanced detection technologies.

While IHC is a robust technique, the establishment of an IHC assay requires precise and often timeconsuming optimization since it depends on several factors, such as target molecule characteristics, choice of primary antibody, and analyzed tissue or cells. These factors play an important role in the production of reliable and reproducible data and are often underestimated.

With the prohisto IHC staining kits, PROGEN offers a product line that supplements its comprehensive portfolio of primary antibodies and features premium performance along with care-free handling – without the need for cumbersome optimization. The prohisto portfolio includes synchronized kits for secondary antibody detection (prohisto-HiSec) as well as for the visualization with DAB substrate (prohisto-HiVis). All products are carefully optimized for IHC, immunocytochemistry (ICC) and in-situ hybridization (ISH).

The prohisto-HiSec products are secondary antibody kits for IHC containing a suitable blocking solution as well as the HRP-coupled secondary antibody for detection. They are available either as anti-guinea pig, anti-mouse or anti-rabbit detection kit. The prohisto-HiVis kit contains the chemical substrate DAB (3,3´diaminobenzidine) for the visualization of the detected target molecule.

External validation for IHC applications

The prohisto product line has been externally validated for use with PROGEN´s primary IHC antibodies. IHC of human skin using rabbit anti-Histidine decarboxylase polyclonal serum (Cat. No. 16045, 1:5000) and prohisto-HiSec anti-rabbit HRP (Cat. No. PRSTAR).
