RIP1 activation and pathogenesis of NASH

Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), a type of fatty liver disease, is characterized by inflammation and concurrent fat accumulation in liver. NASH may lead to liver fibrosis, cirrhosis, and liver cancer. By using RIP1 activation marker RIP1 pSer166 antibody (ARG66476), Tao et al., demonstrated that kinase activity of RIP1 in macrophages contributes to the pathogenesis of NASH, through mediating pyroptosis, apoptosis, and necroptosis (PANoptosis). Their result indicates that macrophage RIP1 represents a potential therapeutic target for NASH.
